To be or not to be a supporter of Hate Crimes Laws.
I decided the first post on here should be one close to home, and chose to look up the pros/cons of Hate Crimes Laws. There are a lot of Libertarians against Hate Crimes Laws, and this would be due to the whole “thought police” aspect of them.
So, I decided to look, and see what all the fuss was about. When I did my search, however, I found a startling amount of “Hate Crime” results about America 378,000 in t0tal.
Since there is so much crime found due to hate in America… how can any Freedom lover not be in favor of the Hate Crimes bill recently passed in the USA. Surely they do not think people who would do such hideous acts deserve to get off Scott free?
Well, if you look it up online you can find many articles on Hate Crimes Laws, and a lot of the ones against seem to be filled with bigotry. I had to search long, and hard to find anti-Hate Crime Legislation opinion without some kind of homophobia present. Most of the critiques online are from people with serious phobic isuues to work out, and even the so-called “libertarians” online show hetro-sexist biases. All in all, I could only find one actually fairly well done critique of the Hate Crimes Legislation, and that was by a Queer Anarchist site. Did I think they worked good on researching their side on this particular site? Yeppers.
